Goody Two Shoes is a variation of the Cinderella story. The fable tells of Goody Two Shoes, the nickname of a poor orphan girl named Margery Meanwell, who goes through life with only one shoe. When a rich gentleman gives her a complete pair, she is so happy that she tells everyone that she has two shoes. A tradition of craftsmanship is evident in the Royal Doulton studios in which these figures were created. The artists and sculptors, potters and decorators employ many of the same tried and tested techniques as their predecessors and use only the highest quality materials such as fine bone china, natural pigments, and deep luster glazes. The figurine was designed by Leslie Harradine in 1939 and was retired in 1989. This figurine is approximately 5" tall.
